QUEENSCLIFF MARITIME WEEKEND INCORPORATING THE QUEENSCLIFF REGATTA (posted 31.8.10)

The Borough of Queenscliffe is rich in maritime history and experience. With its new harbour it is the destination of choice for sailors on Port Phillip. The Queenscliffe Maritime weekend on the 25, 26 & 27 MARCH 2011 provides a great way to experience all this in the company of other sailors.

The 2011 Queesncliffe Maritime Weekend will incorporate

 Morning of Saturday 26th March 2011 – Cruise in company starting at Melbourne Fleet) and Geelong (Geelong Fleet) finishing late afternoon at Queenscliff

 Saturday 26th Marc h 2011 for those boats already in Queenscliff Blessing of the Fleet and race around the buoys or local marks (couta boat division with 40 couta boats expected, classic yacht, keel and trailable divisions)

 Saturday 26th March 2011 for those not sailing local beach activities including children’s treasure hunt, kite flying, camel rides, beach sports, sea kayak races

 Evening of Saturday 26th March. Drinks and trophy presentation in the historic Queenscliff Maritime Museum. Dinner and socializing for all sailors at Restaurant 360 on the Harbour

 Sunday Market

 Sunday passage race or return to Melbourne/Geelong

Boats attending the event will be provided with a free harbour berth including use of amenities (hot showers and clean towels, access to washing machine, community lounge) and harbour side coffee shops and restaurants. A work boat will be available to assist boats accessing the Queenscliff cut, mooring in the harbour and turning.
