History: Celeste is a variation on Knud Reimers classic Stor Tumlaeren (Albatross) as a result of Cohoe’s epic Atlantic race. The boat is two feet longer and has an inboard hung rudder and an additional 1/2 ton displacement. Celeste was built in Henty, South Australia by the then Commodore of the South Australian Yacht Club, Alan Jordan. Celeste is of composite construction with Queensland White Beech and monel frames. Alan raced the boat extensively for nearly 20 years, taking it home at the end of every season, keeping it in a shed behind his house over winter. Celeste came to Sydney in the early 90’s and was acquired by the current owner in 1995. Since then the boat has had a major re-build with a new rig and engine. Celeste has had a long and successful racing career extending from winning the Port Lincoln race in the 50’s to a gold medal and the Kelly Cup at Sydney Amateurs in the 90’s .
